Tyler Curtis
Sales Team | 2 years at RES, started in Burner Cell
What was most important to you in your professional growth?
What was most important to me was, quite frankly, was doing a good job, no matter what stage I was at. When I came to work here, especially in the burners department, I didn’t really have any experience at all doing this type of work. Honestly, it’s the type of thing where you work hard, do the job as well as you can, and the supervisors and everyone else takes notice. You demonstrate that you have good work ethic, and for other opportunities that come along, you can be put up as a candidate for them, and that’s how I got to where I am now.
What do you like most about your work?
When I was in the burner cell, I enjoyed working with my hands, I also likes the trust that you’re given. You’re expected to be able complete the tasks. You have the freedom of, as long as you get your work done, you can wok at your own pace. Now that I’m in the sales office, it’s a whole new challenge, I’ve never done anything like that. It’s a completely different environment. I’m on the phone talking to customers, helping them with their questions, explaining to them the benefits of what we’re doing. What I like is the different challenges and to demonstrate what I bring to the table.
Where do you see yourself in 6 months?
Six months from now we will be gearing up for the busy season. We’ll be trying to help as many current customers as possible and also helping the potential customers out there. And, doing the best job we can for them.
What’s the best part about working for RES?
The best part about working for RES is that it’s fair. It’s truly the type of place where you come in, you do a good job, try to learn as much as you can, and it’s noticed. It’s truly one of those things where the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. There are always people to help you along the way, supervisors, other people in the departments, HR, but really you have to look inside yourself and do as much as you want. Strive to be better, to go further. You can start off on the factory floor and move into an office and keep growing with the company. The cool part about working here is that you get out of it what you put in. So, put in the most that you can.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I’ve only worked here for a short time. It’s the fastest I’ve ever advanced in a job. You have to credit that to the people that are here and the culture that they promote. I owe a lot to RES and I plan on returning the favor for a long time.
